Language Learning App
In Angelina Pecoraro’s class we created a language app. On the intro screen I created a logo of a pen writing to connect to the language/writing theme and made the company name “IntelliLanguage”. I created a typical log in and sign up page, a language selection page to pick the language or languages you want to study, a reminder page to remind you when to study and a page where it asks you if you know some of the language and if you do, it takes you to more advanced topics. On the home page I made the four major categories of any language learning resource which are writing, pronouncing, grammar, and vocab. I also added a test taking option to make sure that they understood the section before moving on to the next one. I used French as the example language as I understand a little bit of French. For the pronouncing/vocab, writing and grammar page I created a list of general topics that you can learn about. I find learning apps to mostly be about writing skills but I wanted to create a learning tool that records your voice and tells you if you pronounced it correctly because that is really important too for languages. Each category has sections based on different topics like weather, time, etc. It also has a reading/video page where you can read or watch the information to learn about it instead of doing quizzes and tests. If you finish the quizzes and readings/videos of a topic you can take a test which is longer and you can’t move on if you fail. For the quiz page it tells you if the answer is correct or not and you can redo it. You can get questions on pronunciation, where you speak into a microphone to see if you said it right, writing questions where you write the answer, and multiple choice questions. If you finish a test on the test page and succeed at it you can move on but if you don’t you have to take the test again. The test/quiz results page gives you a full break down of what you missed and what you need to work on. The ranking page makes it more fun to use the app because you get awards if you get first, second, or third place by completing exercises, quizzes and tests. The profile page has a progress bar for each language you are studying and the typical settings information.
